Ronaldo Skips Al Nassr’s Iran Trip Over Threat of 99 Lashes
The Portuguese superstar could face this penalty after he kissed and hugged a disabled artist back in 2023.
Cristiano Ronaldo will not accompany Al Nassr to Iran for the Saudi team’s match against Esteghlal in the Round of 16 of the Asian Champions League on Monday.
The Iranian club has refused to play the match on neutral ground, so Al Nassr has decided to travel without their star man.
Two years ago, during a match against another Iranian team, Persepolis, the Madeira native was captured on video embracing and kissing Fatemeh Hammami Nasrabadi, a disabled artist who creates art using her feet.
According to the law of the Islamic Republic, this gesture can be considered adultery, as the kiss was not directed towards his spouse.
Strangely, Ronaldo could face punishment of 99 lashes if he sets foot in Iran.
