Tottenham Hotspur Signs Mathys Tel On Permanent Deal From Bayern Munich
Tottenham have announced the signing of Bayern Munich forward, Mathys Tel in a deal valued at £29.8 million.
The France U21 international has committed to a contract with the North London club until 2031.
Originally, Tel joined Tottenham on loan with the option for a permanent transfer in January under former manager Ange Postecoglou, who has now been replaced by Thomas Frank.
Spurs paid a £7.3m loan fee in January and that temporary deal was always intended to become a permanent one, with Postecoglou often quoting the Tel move was with the long term in mind.
Tel has impressed the coaching staff and management after making 20 appearances and scoring three goals during his initial half-season with Spurs. His performances, potential, and future prospects were instrumental in securing his permanent transfer.
The signing has the support of new head coach Thomas Frank, who has prioritized maintaining the striker’s inclusion as one of his first decisions since taking over.
Meanwhile, Tel is currently with the France U21 team, preparing for the upcoming European Championship in the category.
With this transfer, Tottenham has secured a key player for its future plans. Stade Rennais, Tel’s former club, will receive a sell-on fee estimated at around 10 to 15 percent of the transfer fee.
