Tottenham Signs Dominic Solanke From Bournemouth

Tottenham have completed the signing of Dominic Solanke from Bournemouth on a six-year deal.

The Spurs have been searching for attacking reinforcements throughout the summer identifying Solanke as the top target.

They advanced discussions with the Cherries, which ultimately led to an agreement being reached on Friday afternoon

The deal could eventually be worth £65m, with Tottenham spending an initial £55m and a further £10m included in the transfer as add-ons.

Bill Foley, the owner of Bournemouth, confirmed earlier this summer that Solanke’s contract had a release clause of £65 million. His marks a club-record sale, surpassing the 40 million transfer fee they received for Nathan Aké when he moved to Manchester in 2020.

If Solanke can be a success in north London, his move would surpass Spurs’ £63m record deal for Tanguy Ndombele in 2019.

Postecoglou approved for Tottenham to pursue Solanke after the best season of his career.

He scored 21 goals in all competitions for Bournemouth last term including 19 in the Premier League but also caught the eye with his pressing statistics and link-up play for Andoni Iraola’s side.

Solanke’s transfer to Spurs provides him with another chance to play for a top-six club, having previously advanced through Chelsea’s academy before moving to Liverpool in 2017.

While chances were limited for Solanke at Anfield and he left in 2019, he has been a key figure in keeping Bournemouth in the Premier League during the past two seasons but was eager to grasp what he views as a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity in signing for Tottenham.

Solanke’s former club, Liverpool who sold him to the south coast club for £19 million in 2019 are understood to have a 20 percent sell-on clause on any profit made by the Cherries from his sale.

Solanke is expected to be in attendance for Saturday’s friendly match against Bayern Munich at Tottenhamspur Stadium. Meanwhile, his former club Bournemouth now focused on securing a replacement.
