Paris Saint-Germain manager Luis Enrique remains optimistic about his team’s chances to bounce back from a 3-2 defeat at home to Barcelona in the Champions League quarter-final. Despite the setback, Enrique believes PSG can deliver a strong performance in the upcoming match against the Spanish side and advance to the next stage of the competition.

PSG, who are yet to secure a Champions League title, surrendered a late lead to Barcelona in the previous encounter, giving the Spanish team a slight edge for the return leg in Spain.

“It is clear that all defeats hurt and annoy, but I believe we played a good game against a very strong team,” Luis Enrique told a press conference.

“We are only going to change the things that didn’t work, we always have to appreciate what a match of this magnitude means. We’re going to Barcelona with a lot of desire. It’s a positive point of view to think that we can win there. It’s going to be a final for us. I’m confident in my team.”

Luis Enrique chose not to address Kylian Mbappe’s performance, as the French captain was effectively contained by Barcelona’s defense and struggled to make a significant impact during the game.

The Spanish manager, who achieved the treble with Barcelona in 2015, expressed that his team deserved the victory and emphasized that Barcelona should not be automatically considered as favorites despite their win and playing on home turf.

“We are going to go to Barcelona to fight a war,” he said. I never see the opposition as favorites, whoever they are. In top-level competition, that’s how I see it. And I will continue to believe that we will go to Barcelona to win the game”.

He continues “I repeat. We could have won this game. (Football) is about small details and let’s hope that the small details go our way in the second leg. I have no doubt that we can achieve it and I believe that we will achieve it, if there is a team that does not speculate away from home it is us, there are six days left and we depend on winning and that the goals are not worth double away from home. All the games are open in the quarterfinals.”
