‎Chelsea have appointed Liam Rosenior as their new head coach, bringing him in from sister club Strasbourg.

‎The Englishman has signed a six-year contract at Stamford Bridge. BlueCo moved swiftly following Enzo Maresca’s departure last week, recruiting Rosenior after his successful spell in Ligue 1.

‎In a statement, Rosenior said, “I am extremely humbled and honoured to be appointed Head Coach of Chelsea Football Club. This is a club with a unique spirit and a proud history of winning trophies.

‎”My job is to protect that identity and create a team that reflects these values in every game we play as we continue winning trophies. To be entrusted with this role means the world to me and I want to thank all involved for the opportunity and faith in undertaking this job.

‎”I will give everything to bring the success this club deserves.

‎”I believe deeply in teamwork, unity, togetherness, and working for one another, and those values will be at the heart of everything we do. They will be the foundation of our success.”

‎It has been a remarkable ascent to the Premier League for the 41-year-old, who moved to the French club in 2024 and guided them to a seventh-place finish, earning European football for the 2025/26 campaign.

‎He has also been pivotal in the club’s emphasis on developing young talent, frequently fielding an XI with players under 23, a policy his new Chelsea chiefs are likely to maintain.

‎Before then, he also had stints at Hull City and Derby County.

‎Rosenior is now the fifth permanent Chelsea head coach appointed under BlueCo ownership since May 2022, succeeding Tuchel, Potter, Pochettino, and Maresca.

‎His debut is expected to come in the FA Cup tie against Charlton on January 10. The upcoming midweek clash with Fulham arrives too early for him to take charge.

‎Calum McFarland, who guided the Blues to a 1-1 draw with Manchester City on Sunday, will take charge for that match.
