2024 Olympics: Brazil Coach, Elias Brags Ahead Of Clash With Super Falcons

The head coach of Brazil’s women’s national team, Arthur Elias, is confident that his squad has the ability to achieve great success in the 2024 Olympics in Paris.

Elias boasts of the dedication and collective mindset of the players as key factors.

It’s important to note that Brazil will face off against the Super Falcons of Nigeria in the opening game of the Paris 2024 Olympics Women’s Football Tournament at the Matmut Atlantique Stadium in Bordeaux, France.

The match is scheduled to start at 6 p.m. (Nigerian time) today (Thursday), July 25.

This eagerly awaited game will feature two of the top teams in women’s football competing against each other.

Nigeria, celebrated for its supremacy in African women’s football with 11 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations wins, will face off against Brazil, the leading force in South American women’s football with eight Copa América wins.

This game is the third time these strong teams will meet. In their past encounters, Brazil has won both times.

The first time they met was at the FIFA Women’s World Cup in 1999, where Brazil won 4-3 in extra time.

The second time was at the Beijing 2008 Olympics, where Brazil won 3-1.

Even though they are considered the underdogs in Group C, which includes Spain, Brazil, and Japan, the Super Falcons from Nigeria, guided by coach Randy Waldrum, are set on achieving their first win against Brazil.

Conversely, the Brazilian team, with coach Arthur Elias at the helm, came into the tournament with a lot of confidence following their recent streak of victories, winning 10 out of their last 15 matches.

Speaking ahead of their clash with the Super Falcons of Nigeria at the 2024 Olympics, coach Elias said: “The commitment of the team is great. We have got an increasingly strong group of players, and we have a unity of thought.

“This is an important factor for the team to advance in such a difficult competition and also to win in the knockout phase.”

It is worth noting that following their confrontation with Brazil in the opening game of the 2024 Olympics, coach Randy Waldrum and his team will encounter Spain on July 28 at Stade de la Beaujoire in Nantes and Japan once again, at the same location, on July 31.
