Amorim Defends Tactical Approach As He Stands Firm On Tactics

‎Ruben Amorim has defended his approach once more as Manchester United pursues its ongoing Premier League unbeaten stretch.

‎The Red Devils are five games without a loss in the top flight, and their most recent two fixtures against Nottingham Forest and Tottenham ended in draws.

‎Both of those matches finished 2-2, with Amad Diallo and Matthijs de Ligt rescuing a point on both occasions for United.

‎Amorim’s side sits seventh in the table after 11 games, one point off the top four.

‎The Portuguese head coach admitted that his team was “far from perfection”, but claimed that the formation was “the start of something”.

‎“We are playing better, but we are playing better because we have more confidence, and that starts with good results, for example, against Liverpool,” Amorim told Stan Sport.

‎”We are getting better, but I can share my feelings. When we finished the game against Tottenham and I was coming back to Carrington, I was watching the game and my feeling was frustration; that we are far from perfection.

‎“We are far from being that team that can win every game. So I think we have a lot to do, but I also have the feeling, and I’ve been saying this for many months, that the formation is not the problem.

‎“The formation is the start of something, then it’s the dynamic, the confidence, the way we play, how competitive we are.

‎“If you look at the games we struggled in this season, it was not about the formation for me. It was the lack of intensity. We need to be perfect in this league to win a lot of games.”

‎Amorim has faced criticism for sticking with his preferred 3-4-2-1 formation, often forcing players into awkward positions to preserve the system.

‎In his first term as manager, he guided United to a 15th-place finish in the league and an Europa League final defeat to Tottenham in Bilbao.
