Aston Villa Set To Secure Loan Deal For Marcus Rashford

Aston Villa is closing in on an agreement to secure Marcus Rashford on loan from Manchester United.

The suggested transfer has not been completed, as there are still some details that need to be resolved among all involved parties.

Substantial strides have been taken, as Villa works to finalize the financial details, aiming to meet United’s salary coverage demands and persuade the player.

The opportunity to compete in the Champions League is a major attraction for Rashford, with Unai Emery fully supporting the initiative. It is anticipated that an option to purchase will be reached with Villa.

Villa is set to cover a significant portion of the forward’s wage alongside offering performance-related bonuses.

Villa manager Unai Emery made a personal request for the club to initiate discussions regarding Rashford, as he is an admirer of the England international.

Emery considers Rashford one of the world’s most formidable attacking players and believes he can assist him in regaining his top form.

The 27-year-old standout has generated considerable interest throughout Europe this transfer window, with elite clubs, including Barcelona, AC Milan, and Borussia Dortmund, eager to secure his services.

However, he now appears poised to remain in the Premier League, set to join Aston Villa for the remainder of the 2024-25 season.

Rashford’s United contract runs until 2028 and he is among the club’s top earners, with his salary more than £325,000 per week.

Rashford has not featured in any of United’s last 12 games in all competitions after being left out of the squad for the derby win over Manchester City on December 15. The forward has been sidelined by head coach Ruben Amorim after he said he was “ready for a new challenge”.

Rashford was included on the bench for Manchester United’s loss to Newcastle on December 30 but remained an unused substitute.

Since that match, he has been consistently omitted from the squad, missing the club’s 2-2 draw at Anfield on January 5 and the FA Cup third-round tie against Arsenal the following week.

Before his omission at the Etihad Stadium, he had previously played in all 15 of United’s Premier League games, starting 12 of them.

Rashford famously came through the academy at United, having been associated with the club since he was seven years old. He made his senior debut for the side in 2016 and has made 426 appearances for the club since then, scoring 138 goals.

Currently positioned eighth in the league, Aston Villa recently secured Donyell Malen from Borussia Dortmund and is actively exploring additional attacking options following the departure of Jhon Duran to Al Nassr in the Saudi Pro League.
