Barcelona Confirms Robert Lewandowski Has Suffered A Torn Thigh Muscle
Barcelona have confirmed that striker Robert Lewandowski has sustained a torn thigh muscle.
The injury is expected to sideline the Poland captain, putting his availability for next week’s LaLiga clash against Real Madrid in doubt.
Lewandowski played the full 90 minutes and scored in Poland’s 2-0 World Cup qualifying victory over Lithuania on Sunday.
”Lewandowski has a muscle injury in the biceps femoris of the left thigh. His recovery time will depend on how the injury evolves,” Barcelona said in a statement.
Spanish media reported that Lewandowski is expected to be out for four to six weeks, making him a doubt for the Clasico at the Santiago Bernabeu on October 26th.
Lewandowski’s injury adds to Barcelona’s mounting fitness concerns under coach Hansi Flick, with Raphinha, Gavi, and Dani Olmo also sidelined.
Goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen remains out as he continues recovery from back surgery.
However, Lamine Yamal and Fermin Lopez are expected to return after the international break, offering a timely boost for the squad.
