Barcelona Fined 25,000 Euros By Uefa For Fans’ Racist Behaviour In Paris

Barcelona has been fined 25,000 euros by UEFA for the racist behavior of their fans during the Champions League quarter-final first leg against Paris Saint-Germain. Following the incident, two supporters were questioned by the police.

As part of the punishment, Barcelona has been prohibited from selling tickets to their supporters for their next away European game, although this penalty is suspended for a year. Barcelona ultimately lost the tie 6-4 on aggregate, with PSG emerging victorious in Tuesday’s second leg with a score of 4-1.

On April 10th, Paris police confirmed that they had interrogated two individuals after videos surfaced on social media showing a supporter making monkey noises and another person making Nazi salutes at the Parc des Princes.

“The UEFA Appeals Body has decided to fine FC Barcelona 25,000 euros and to ban FC Barcelona from selling tickets to its away supporters for its next UEFA competition match, for the racist behavior of its supporters,” UEFA said. “Said ban from selling tickets to its away supporters is suspended for a probationary period of one year, starting from the date of the present decision.”
