‎Sunderland’s Jobe Bellingham has finalized a permanent transfer to Borussia Dortmund, the clubs announced on Tuesday.

‎The English midfielder is following in the footsteps of his older brother Jude by signing with the Bundesliga club.

‎The newly-promoted Premier League club did not reveal the financial terms of the transfer, but British media reported that Borussia Dortmund would pay an initial fee of 33 million euros for Jobe Bellingham.

‎He is set to participate in this month’s Club World Cup.

‎Sunderland said it was a club-record fee and that a sell-on clause was also included within the agreement, while Dortmund said the England Under-21 international had signed a five-year deal.

‎The reported fee would make Jobe Bellingham the second most expensive signing in Borussia Dortmund’s history, after Ousmane Dembélé’s 35 million euro move in 2016. The 19-year-old leaves Sunderland following two years at the club.

‎Sunderland finished fourth in the Championship that season and earned promotion to the Premier League after winning the playoff final against Sheffield United.

‎Jobe’s move follows in the footsteps of his older brother Jude, who also played for Dortmund.

‎”It’s time for me to say farewell to all the loyal people of Sunderland, who have powered me through two incredible years in red and white,” Jobe said.

‎”Your support, on so many occasions, has completely blown me away, especially in the times of adversity, which we pulled through together.”

‎In a separate statement, he said, “I’m very happy to be a Borussia Dortmund player now and to fight for titles together with this great club… And I’m very happy that I’ll be wearing the black and yellow jersey at the FIFA Club World Cup.”

‎Jude Bellingham spent three seasons at Dortmund before transferring to Real Madrid for 103 million euros.

‎In his first season at Madrid, the England international secured both La Liga and Champions League titles.
