Colombian authorities have confirmed the arrest of four individuals linked to the kidnapping of Luis Diaz’s parents.
While his mother was released shortly after the incident, his father, Luis Manuel Diaz, was held captive by the National Liberation Army (ELN).
Following extensive efforts involving the Catholic Church, the United Nations, and law enforcement, Luis Manuel Diaz was safely reunited with his family. Recent arrests include individuals allegedly responsible for surveillance, monitoring, planning, and executing the kidnapping.
Charges against them include extortionate kidnapping, simple kidnapping, and aggravated robbery.
The detainees are associated with Los Primos, with one identified as the leader, and three involved in handing victims over to the ELN.
Firearms, money, mobile phones, and drugs were reportedly seized during the arrests. Luis Diaz, the Liverpool forward, continued playing with the team in England during this challenging time.
