Complete Prize Rewards For AFCON 2023 Winners, Runner-ups, Others

The Confederation of African Football has announced the financial rewards for participating nations in the ongoing 2023 Africa Cup of Nations tournament (AFCON prize money) in Cote d’Ivoire.

The victorious team of AFCON 2023 will be granted a prize of $7 million for their outstanding achievement. The runners-up will be awarded $4 million for their commendable performance. Furthermore, the two teams that were defeated in the semi-finals will each receive $2.5 million as a token of appreciation.

Moving down the rankings, the four teams eliminated in the quarter-finals will each be given $1.3 million as a consolation prize. Similarly, the eight teams knocked out in the round of 16 will be compensated with $800,000 each for their efforts.

In addition to these rewards, two teams that finished third in their respective groups but failed to advance will receive $700,000 as a gesture of recognition.

Similarly, the six teams that finished last in their groups will be granted $500,000 each as a token of encouragement.

  • The teams ranked 3rd in their group but failed to qualify for the round of 16 (2 teams): $700,000 x 2
  • The teams ranked 4th in each of the six groups (six teams): $500 000 x 6

Today, Nigeria will face Angola in the AFCON quarter-finals.

The match will be played at the Felix Houphouët-Boigny Stadium in Abidjan on Friday (today).

Both sides are hoping to book a spot in the semi-final round of the tournament in Cote d’Ivoire.

SportXparte reports that Nigeria last won the AFCON in 2013. The Super Eagles, however, are hoping to win home fourth AFCON title for the country.
