EPL: Spurs Midfielder, Maddison Sidelined Until January Due To Ankle Injury – Manager Confirms
Tottenham manager, Ange Postecoglou, has confirmed that James Maddison will be sidelined until January due to an ankle injury.
The 26-year-old midfielder has withdrawn from the England squad for the Euro 2024 qualifiers in November, having sustained the injury during Tottenham’s 4-1 defeat to Chelsea in the Premier League on Monday.
Additionally, Spurs’ Micky van de Ven, who joined from Wolfsburg in the summer, suffered a hamstring injury in the same match, with Postecoglou stating it is a significant injury that will likely keep him out for a couple of months into the new year.
Richarlison, the Brazilian forward, is currently unavailable after undergoing groin surgery earlier this month, but Postecoglou anticipates his return shortly after the international break. Furthermore, defenders Cristian Romero and Destiny Udogie will miss the upcoming Premier League game against Wolves due to suspension from red cards received in the match against Chelsea.
As for England’s upcoming fixtures, they face Malta at Wembley on Friday, 17 November, followed by a trip to North Macedonia three days later. Maddison, who has five England caps, was an unused substitute in their recent 3-1 victory over Italy in October, securing Euro 2024 qualification for Gareth Southgate’s team with two games to spare.
