Everton Responds To Manchester United’s Bid For Jarrad Branthwaite

Reports have shown that Everton has turned down a second bid from United for center-back Jarrad Branthwaite.

Last month, Manchester United began negotiations for Branthwaite by proposing a £35m deal, but Everton swiftly rejected it, highlighting their demand of £70m for the 22-year-old.

Now, the Daily Mail was the first to reveal that United had raised their bid to £50m – £45m plus £5m in add-ons in the hope of convincing Everton to sell.

Upon receiving the new bid from United, Everton promptly rejected it, showing little hesitation in snubbing the offer, as reported by Fabrizio Romano.

Everton is holding firm to their £70m asking price, believing that Branthwaite deserves to be held in the same regard as the likes of Wesley Fofana, Harry Maguire, and Josko Gvardiol, all of whom have commanded similar figures in recent years.

United are placing significant emphasis on strengthening their defense this summer, with plans to secure two new players before the season kicks in.

Discussions are in progress not only with Branthwaite but also with Bayern Munich regarding a potential deal for Dutch defender, Matthijs de Ligt, who expressed eagerness to reunite with his former Ajax coach Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford.

Bologna forward, Joshua Zirkzee, is also close to a £34m switch, while United also wants a new defensive midfielder and is keen on Paris Saint-Germain’s Manuel Ugarte, who 90min understands is valued at €60m (£51m).

In order to finance their summer transfer activities, United are aiming to sell off a number of peripheral players. Marseille has shown interest in Mason Greenwood, while United are open to considering offers for Jadon Sancho, Casemiro, and Antony.
