Ghana Part Ways With Coach Otto Addo Ahead Of 2026 World Cup

‎Ghana has dismissed head coach Otto Addo, just 72 days before the start of the FIFA World Cup, the national federation (Ghana Football Association) confirmed on Tuesday.

The decision followed a 2–1 defeat to Germany in Stuttgart, part of their World Cup preparations.

‎It came only days after a heavy 5–1 loss in Austria, adding to growing concerns over the team’s form ahead of the tournament in North America next summer.

‎”The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has parted ways with the Head Coach of the senior men’s national team (Black Stars), Otto Addo, effective immediately,” it said in a statement.

‎Former Borussia Dortmund midfielder Otto Addo, who took charge of Ghana in March 2024, has failed to guide the national team to the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations despite having Premier League talents like Antoine Semenyo and Mohammed Kudus available.

‎Across his 22 matches as head coach, Addo recorded eight wins and nine defeats.

Ghana, which qualified for its fifth FIFA World Cup, will compete in Group L alongside Croatia, England, and Panama.
