Hansen-Aarøen Discloses Why He Left Manchester United
Norwegian professional footballer and former Manchester United player Isak Hansen-Aarøen has revealed that his desire for regular first-team football motivated his decision to depart from the club during the January transfer window.
SportXparte reports that the 19-year-old Norwegian made a permanent move to Werder Bremen on deadline day, as United opted to sell him after it became clear that he would not be signing a new contract.
Hansen-Aarøen joined United in August 2020, having previously undergone trials with clubs such as Everton and Liverpool.
However, he was unable to secure a single appearance for the first team. Although he participated in United’s pre-season campaign this season, featuring in matches against Leeds United and Lyon, he ultimately chose to pursue opportunities elsewhere.
Nevertheless, the young player never had the chance to showcase his skills in the first team, leading to his growing frustration due to the lack of opportunities. It was reported that Manchester United had proposed a substantial new contract for him, but he remained resolute in his decision to seek regular playing time at a higher level elsewhere.
“Now, for me, it’s about proving myself in training and showing everyone what I can do,” said Hansen-Aarøen.
“It was time for me to take the next step and go to a club where I could get more opportunities and show how good I am. This is definitely the step I want to take now. That was one of the reasons why I came here. I want to play men’s football now and I feel ready for it,” Sport Witness quoted the player saying.
Bremen’s head of football, Clemens Fritz, has urged the youngster to improve his physicality levels and that is an ambition matched by Hansen-Aarøen.
He added: “I will certainly do my workouts, but I definitely want to keep a certain pace in my game. I’m a very technical player and I hope it’s fun to watch me play. I like to dribble and always give my best when I’m on the pitch.”
He is still waiting to make his debut for his new club. Bremen are currently ninth in the Bundesliga table.
