La Liga Announces Rule Changes For 2024-25 Season

Published

on

The laws for the upcoming 2024-25 season in La Liga were revised by the league on Tuesday, with some significant changes worth noting.

One of these is a non-change, and it is that goal-line technology will continue to not be used in La Liga.

The decision not to have this technology utilized at the top level of Spanish football has been ridiculed in the past, and it’s unlikely to be popular that it will continue to be omitted.

La Liga teams will now be allowed to make a sixth substitution in case of a concussion or head injury to one of their players.

This rule, which has been adopted in Europe in recent years, aims to prioritize player safety.

Two more changes have been inspired by their implementation internationally, including the ongoing Euro 2024 tournament.

Semi-automated offsides will be brought into La Liga, as was announced last season, while to avoid referees being confronted by players, only captains are allowed to speak to officials during a match.

It remains to be seen how these changes are welcomed by La Liga’s 20 clubs for the 2024-25 season.
