Liverpool and Portugal Star Diogo Jota Tragically Dies In Road Accident
Liverpool forward, Diogo Jota, along with his brother André, has tragically died in a car accident near the municipality of Palacios de Sanabria in Spain, according to local reports.
As reported by Marca, the 28-year-old Portuguese striker died last night in the province of Zamora, during the incident.
The accident took place on the A-52 motorway near the municipality of Palacios de Sanabria. Diogo Jota was traveling with his brother André, who is 26 years old and also a footballer, when their car veered off the road and caught fire following a collision.
Witnesses at the scene promptly contacted emergency services through 112. According to their accounts, the vehicle was completely consumed by flames.
Jota, who got married on June 28th, joined Liverpool in 2020 after excelling for fellow Premier League club Wolves and was part of last season’s Premier League-winning squad.
The forward started his career in Spain with Atletico Madrid, then had a loan spell at Porto before moving to Wolves, where he contributed to their promotion from the Championship.
