Liverpool Confirms Departing Players Ahead Of New Premier League Season

Joel Matip and Thiago Alcantara are among the top players who will depart Liverpool ahead of next season.

The Reds confirmed this in a submitted list to affirm its retained players following the end of the 2023-24 season.

Sportxparte reports that several senior and Academy players are leaving Anfield. Following Jurgen Klopp’s departure, the Reds are set to embark on a new era under Arne Slot.

As announced last month, “Joel Matip and Thiago Alcantara are set to leave the Reds upon the expiry of their contracts this summer, following eight and four years respectively with the club,” Liverpool noted on its official website on Wednesday.

The club hailed Matip and Thiago’s contribution to success during their spell.

“Centree-back Matip surpassed 200 appearances on Merseyside, scoring 11 goals and claiming seven honours – including Champions League and Premier League glory.

“Thiago, meanwhile, featured 98 times after he arrived from Bayern Munich in 2020, the midfielder lifting the Emirates FA Cup and FA Community Shield along the way,” the statement added.

Adam Lewis, an academy graduate, will say goodbye as his contract ends. He has been on loan with Newport County for the past two seasons.

The Liverpool native successfully climbed through the Reds’Reds’hReds’Reds’h system ranks, starting at the U6 level.

Melkamu Frauendorf is planning to leave the team this summer. The forward was a regular on the U18s and U21s teams and also played twice at the senior level over his four-year tenure with Liverpool.

Mateusz Musialowski is set to start a new phase in his professional career following his debut with the senior Liverpool team as a substitute against Sparta Prague in March.
