Liverpool’s Alisson Returns To Training Ahead Of Nottingham Forest Match
Liverpool goalkeeper, Alisson Becker, is set to return to training this week ahead of Saturday’s clash with Nottingham Forest.
The match at Anfield marks the end of the international break and the beginning of a crucial stretch for Arne Slot’s side.
With Liverpool needing to regain momentum, Slot faces mounting pressure to keep the team in the title race.
The Premier League champions are currently 8th, behind rivals Manchester United, in what is a dramatic fall from grace.
However, ahead of the Forest game, Slot has been handed a huge gift.
Alisson has been sidelined since September 30 due to a hamstring injury, giving summer signing Giorgi Mamardashvili his first run of matches in front of the crowd that has been impressed so far.
Slot has confirmed his return ahead of the trip to the Etihad to face Manchester City.
”Alisson for sure. And I expect Jeremie (Frimpong) back after the international break as well because we play from November until March.
”But I don’t expect Jeremie to be fully fit for Forest. But with Alisson, we expect this, yes.”
The Standard reports that Alisson is expected to take part in full first-team training in the next few days and will attempt to win his place back under Slot, who will be keen to introduce him back into the first team.
A victory against Forest is essential, especially at home, where the fans will be hoping to spark some life back into a side that has been underwhelming so far.
