Manchester City New Signings Savinho And Miedema Excited By New Challenges
New Manchester City signing, Savinho has vowed to write his chapter in the history of the club, as he was unveiled by the club alongside Vivianne Miedema.
The 20-year-old Brazilian winger joined on a five-year deal from Troyes following his impressive performance on loan at Girona last season, where he played a key role in helping the Spanish team secure a spot in the Champions.
Savinho revealed that as a youngster he idolized former City favorite Riyad Mahrez and has chosen to take the Algerian’s No 26 shirt at the Etihad.

“I’m really happy and honored to be here. I can’t wait to put the shirt on, get on the pitch, and show you what I can do,” he said. “I can see myself as part of this group and I will play my best football for Manchester City.
“What I want is to work hard with the coaches and my teammates so I can develop. I was delighted to qualify for the Champions League with Girona. Now the focus is on Manchester City.
“It’s a new history page and I’m delighted to play in the Champions League with Manchester City. I want to drive on from what I achieved with Girona last season.
“Mahrez was a role model for me ever since I watched him as a child. Yes, there are similarities to our games. He’s written history here but Mahrez is Mahrez, Savinho is Savinho. Now it’s my turn to make my history here.”
Savinho was introduced to City fans at the Etihad Stadium along with Miedema, who has joined from Arsenal.

Miedema: Manchester City Were Top of My List
During her official unveiling, the WSL record goalscorer expressed that she did not doubt joining City, even with interest from other clubs wanting to sign her.
“I spoke to multiple clubs in England and also abroad but when I started speaking to City, I got excited.” When pressed on her reasoning for choosing the Blues, Miedema was quite specific in explaining what attracted her north.
“Mostly by the way they play but also by how other players talk about the club and about how things were going. I want to challenge myself. I know this wasn’t the easy option, moving within England but I got excited about being part of the City team.
“That’s the reason really why I followed my gut feeling and went with City.”
City fans will be eager to see the Dutch don the Blue of City for the first time and the striker herself cannot wait to get started. “I am excited to be here and wear a City shirt this season and hopefully get back to my level. And at the end of the season, I hope we are sitting here with a prize.
“I have been having contact with clubs for a long time. I have been speaking to different clubs and different coaches and it was an ongoing process for a couple of months.
“A decision like that is not made overnight. There are a lot of things to consider especially for me, having built a life in the UK. You look at the whole picture and where you think you’re going to get the space to allow yourself to be back to your best playing ways. City were top of that list.”
Miedema spent seven years at Arsenal after joining from Bayern Munich in 2017, where she netted 125 goals in 172 appearances across all competitions for the Gunners.

Next season, she will join forces with Bunny Shaw, Lauren Hemp, and Chloe Kelly as the Blues look to wrest the title from Chelsea’s hold, having come close to dethroning the champions last season.
Blues fans will be optimistic that Miedema’s contributions and goals will propel City even further this time.

And Miedema recognizes the role that the fans play when a team goes for the league title.
“The difference between winning the league title or not winning the league title can be the fans,” she said. “So what I will say is please come to the stadium every second week and come to away games, be there, support us in good and in bad times. We appreciate it and feel it on the pitch.
“It can help us do that extra step and play even better. I love playing in front of a lot of fans and I hope they all come to the stadium every game.”
Don’t worry Vivianne, the fans will be there and they’re looking forward to seeing you in action.
