Liverpool’s Caoimhin Kelleher On The Verge Of Brentford Move
Liverpool goalkeeper, Caoimhin Kelleher is set to sign for Brentford in a deal that could rise to £18 million, according to reports on Sunday.
Kelleher was the backup to Liverpool’s first-choice goalkeeper, Alisson Becker, during their Premier League title-winning campaign.
He made 10 league appearances when Alisson was injured.
However, he was eager to leave Anfield in search of regular first-team football.
Brentford has agreed to a reported initial fee of £12.5 million for Kelleher that can rise to £18 million if performance-related requirements are met.
Kelleher, who has one year remaining on his contract with Liverpool, also drew interest from Leeds, West Ham, and Bournemouth.
He was instrumental in Liverpool’s 2022 League Cup final victory over Chelsea, making crucial saves and scoring a penalty in the 11-10 shootout win.
Kelleher also started Liverpool’s 2024 League Cup final win against Chelsea.
The 26-year-old will be succeeded at Anfield by Valencia’s Giorgi Mamardashvili. Mamardashvili is set to join Arne Slot’s team ahead of next season, having agreed to his transfer to the Reds last year.
Kelleher’s imminent switch to West London comes with Brentford keeper Mark Flekken set to join Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen in a £9 million deal.
