Manchester United staged a remarkable comeback to defeat Leicester City 2-1 in the FA Cup fourth round on Friday evening at Old Trafford.

Leicester Takes the Lead

The first half of the match was a struggle for Manchester United, who appeared lackluster and disorganized. Leicester City capitalized on United’s sluggish performance, taking the lead just before halftime.

In the 42nd minute, a shot from Wilfred Ndidi was parried by United’s goalkeeper Andre Onana, but the rebound fell into the path of Bobby De Cordova-Reid. The Leicester forward made no mistake, heading the ball into the net from close range.

United’s Fightback

As the second half commenced, Manchester United knew they had to step up their game to avoid an early exit from the FA Cup. The introduction of Joshua Zirkzee proved pivotal, as he brought fresh energy to the United attack. In the 68th minute, Zirkzee found the back of the net, leveling the score at 1-1.

The goal came from a blocked effort by Rasmus Hojlund, which fortuitously fell to Zirkzee, who tapped it home just three minutes after coming onto the pitch.

The Dramatic Finish

With the match seemingly destined for extra time, Manchester United pushed forward in search of a winner. The tension reached its peak in the 93rd minute when Bruno Fernandes delivered a perfectly placed free kick into the box.

Rising above the defenders, Harry Maguire met the ball with his head, directing it past the Leicester goalkeeper to secure a last-gasp victory for his team.

Mixed Feels for United

While the victory was crucial for Manchester United, it was only their third win in their last eight matches at Old Trafford across all competitions.
