Manchester United’s Pursuit Of PSG Star Kylian Mbappe Reignited As Sir Jim Ratcliffe Nears Arrival
Manchester United is reportedly reentering the race for Paris Saint-Germain star Kylian Mbappe, as Sir Jim Ratcliffe nears his arrival.
The French forward has declined to extend his contract with the Ligue 1 champions and is said to have waived a €100 million (£87m) loyalty bonus to facilitate his departure from Parc des Princes. With Ratcliffe finalizing his takeover of a 25% stake, Manchester United is gearing up to compete for Mbappe in the upcoming summer, according to Football Insider.
While Manchester City and Chelsea also possess the financial capability to secure the deal and bring the 2018 World Cup winner to the English shores, reports suggest that Real Madrid has cooled its interest. This shift is attributed to Mbappe’s age, as he would be nearly 26 upon joining Madrid, and his demands of at least €20 million per year, coupled with a substantial signing bonus that could disrupt the club’s wage structure.
Mbappe is set to return to action with PSG against Reims in a Ligue 1 encounter, while Manchester United faces Luton Town in the Premier League.
