Nigeria Jumps 14 Spots In Latest FIFA World Rankings

Nigeria has received thrilling news as it has climbed an impressive 14 positions in the most recent FIFA world ranking.

As a result, the Super Eagles team now proudly holds the 28th position globally and stands as the third top-ranking team in Africa, following Morocco and Senegal who hold the first and second positions respectively.

SportXparte reports that Egypt and Cote d’Ivoire complete the top five teams on the continent.

The next edition of the FIFA/Coca-Cola Men’s World Ranking will be published on 4 April.

The Super Eagles of Nigeria recently returned from Cote d’Ivoire after loosing the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) final to Ivory Coast.

The host country defeated Nigeria 2-1 in regular time of the AFCON final.

However, President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday, February 13, played host to the Super Eagles at the State House Council Chambers in Abuja.

SportXparte reports that this meeting takes place just two days after their unsuccessful battle for the top spot at the AFCON against Cote d’Ivoire, the host country.

All team members officials were notably present at the Aso Villa meeting with the Nigeria leader.

Meanwhile, in a statement released earlier after the AFCON final, Tinubu praised the team, the coach, the crew, the entire management team for their hard work, dedication, sacrifices that brought them this far in the tournament.

The Nigerian leader acknowledged the obstacles they overcame with their consistently improving performance, leading them to the finals.
