Olympiacos secured their first European trophy and made history for Greek football by clinching their country’s first club-level continental triumph.

The red and white-clad side sent their jubilant supporters into an uncontrollable joy with a dramatic 1-0 extra-time victory over Fiorentina in Athens, who faced their second consecutive UEFA Europa Conference League final defeat.

The match began with both teams eager to secure an early advantage, with Daniel Podence of Olympiacos and Nikola Milenkovic of Fiorentina coming close to breaking the deadlock. However, Milenkovic’s goal was unfortunately ruled out for offside, keeping the score level. Despite Fiorentina’s attempts to keep Olympiacos’ top scorer Ayoub El Kaabi at bay, the first half ended goalless.

As the game progressed, Olympiacos played a more conservative game plan, frustrating Fiorentina’s attacking efforts. The Italian side had their chances, with Milenkovic missing a header and Christian Kouame failing to convert a golden opportunity. Olympiacos nearly grabbed the win late in regular time, but Vicente Iborra’s header went just wide.

With the teams deadlocked after 90 minutes, the game went into extra time. Olympiacos seized the momentum, with Stevan Jovetic coming close to scoring. Fiorentina also had their opportunities, with Jonathan Ikone’s effort saved by Olympiacos’ goalkeeper. However, it was Olympiacos who ultimately triumphed as Santiago Hezze set up El Kaabi for a memorable header, securing his 33rd goal of the season and sealing the victory for Olympiacos.
