Paris 2024: Nigeria’s Super Falcons Suffers Defeat To Canada In Friendly
The Nigerian female’s national team, the Super Falcons, suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat against Canada in their friendly match at the La Quinta Football Centre in Malaga on Wednesday evening.
The Canadian team, who are Olympic champions, took control of the game from the outset and scored the winning goal in the 18th minute.
Despite numerous opportunities to equalize, the Super Falcons were unable to secure a goal, succumbing to their lacklustre finishing.
In a dramatic turn of events, Paris Saint-Germain’s newest acquisition, Jennifer Echegini, scored a goal seven minutes from the end of the match.
This loss marks the Super Falcons’ first defeat of the year, 2024.
Following this defeat, the Super Falcons will now focus their efforts on their first match of the 2024 Olympics, which is scheduled against Brazil in their opening fixture.
The Group C match is set to take place at the Stade Bordeaux on next Thursday.
