Trent Alexander-Arnold Set To Leave Liverpool At The End Of The Season

‎Trent Alexander-Arnold has chosen to leave Liverpool at the end of the season once his contract at Anfield expires.

‎The right-back is anticipated to join Real Madrid on a free transfer, as he seeks a new challenge after spending two decades with his hometown club.

‎Alexander-Arnold was in talks with Liverpool about extending his contract. While Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah chose to stay, he decided not to renew.

‎The 26-year-old wants to seek new challenges after achieving success with Liverpool.

‎While Liverpool offered a contract that would have made Alexander-Arnold one of the best-paid full-backs in world football, money was not a factor for him.

‎Sporting director Richard Hughes had made talks with Alexander-Arnold a priority and first made contact before taking charge.

‎However, he was unable to strike a deal and the England international informed manager Arne Slot of his decision after a final meeting in the spring.

‎Alexander-Arnold, who made his debut and served as vice-captain under Jurgen Klopp, respected working with Dutch manager Slot but has decided to move on.

‎Real Madrid submitted an offer for him just before the January transfer window, which Liverpool rejected.

‎Ultimately, he has chosen to pursue a new chapter elsewhere.

‎No deal with the 15-time champions of Europe has been formalised and he is yet to put pen to paper, but he will likely be at the Bernabeu next season.

‎Alexander-Arnold clinched his second Premier League title with Liverpool last week to add to the Champions League, Club World Cup, FA Cup, and two Carabao Cups.

‎He made his first-team debut in 2016 and has since played 352 games, scoring 23 goals, with his most recent goal coming at Leicester two weeks ago.

‎His departure could provide Conor Bradley with the opportunity to become Liverpool’s first-choice right-back, or it may force Slot to explore options in the transfer market.
