Arsenal Hit By Second Injury Blow As Gabriel Jesus Sidelined In FA Cup Loss
Arsenal are concerned about the fitness of defender Jurrien Timber, who limped off during Sunday’s loss to Manchester United with what appears to be a hamstring injury.
The Gunners were dumped out of the FA Cup on penalties after 120 grueling minutes, made tougher by the nasty knee injury suffered by Gabriel Jesus, whose condition has left Mikel Arteta “worried.”
Unfortunately, Jesus may not have been the only casualty, as Arsenal also lost Timber early in the second period of extra time.
“Timber limping and holding his hamstring and signaled to bench he needs to come off,” Simon Collings reported at the time.
After the match, Arteta did not address Timber’s condition, as most questions were directed towards the sight of Jesus leaving the pitch on a stretcher.
If Timber is facing a spell on the sidelines, it will come as a huge blow to Arteta, who has relied on the Dutchman in the absence of the injured Ben White, who has been sidelined by a long-term knee problem.
Takehiro Tomiyasu is also out due to a knee injury, which would leave Arsenal without any natural right-backs if Timber is unavailable. Midfielder Thomas Partey has previously filled in at that position.
