Barcelona’s Injury Woes Worsen As Pedri Ruled Out For Weeks With Muscle Tear
Barcelona midfielder, Pedri, has been diagnosed with a left-leg muscle tear, the club announced on Wednesday, further swelling Barca’s injury-ridden squad.
The 22-year-old Spain international is expected to be out for at least four weeks, ruling him out of three upcoming fixtures, according to club sources.
Pedri would also miss Spain’s crucial World Cup qualifiers against Georgia and Turkey in November.
”First team player Pedri has suffered a tear in the distal biceps femoris muscle in his left thigh. The player’s recovery will dictate his return to action,” Barcelona said in a statement.
Barcelona’s injury woes deepen as 12 players have been out since the season began. Among the notable absentees are Robert Lewandowski, Gavi, Raphinha, Marc-Andre ter Stegen, and Dani Olmo.
Barça sits second in La Liga on 22 points, five behind leaders Real Madrid.
