‎Botafogo has announced the appointment of Davide Ancelotti, the son of Brazil’s head coach Carlo Ancelotti, as their new manager. The Brazilian club revealed the news on Tuesday.

‎The 35-year-old Ancelotti, who previously served as an assistant to his father at Bayern Munich, Napoli, Everton, and most recently Real Madrid, has signed a one-year contract with Botafogo.

He left Real Madrid at the end of last season alongside his father.

‎Botafogo sacked manager Renato Paiva last week following their Club World Cup exit, despite Paiva guiding the side to a win over Champions League winners Paris Saint-Germain earlier in the competition.

‎Paiva’s team was eliminated in the last-16 round with a 1-0 defeat after extra time to fellow Brazilian club Palmeiras.

‎After four months in charge, the manager was taken aback by the club’s decision.
