Crystal Palace Bolster Defense With Signing Of Colombian Right-Back Daniel Muñoz
Daniel Munoz, the 27-year-old right-back from Colombia, has officially joined Crystal Palace from Genk.
SportXparte reports that the talented player penned a mouthwatering three-year contract worth 8 million Euros (£6.8m), with an additional year option.
It is worthy of note that Munoz made his move to Belgium in 2020 and had a successful debut season, securing the Belgian Cup.
His international career took off in 2021, earning him 23 caps and an impressive performance in the Copa America, where he helped his team reach the semi-finals.
“It’s a pleasure for me to be here at such a historic club, such a big club as Crystal Palace.”
“I’m very excited, very happy, and I can’t wait to be on the pitch,” Munoz said after he signed the deal.
Remarking on the latest development at the club, Palace chairman Steve Parish said: “We are delighted to welcome a player of Daniel’s quality and character to the club.
“He has experience at the highest level for club and country, and he possesses an impressive record going forwards for a full-back.
“I am certain his ability, athleticism and tenacity will be a huge boost to the squad for the remainder of the season, and beyond.”
SportXparte understands that Munoz’s signing comes as Crystal Palace’s first senior signing of the January transfer window.
Muñoz’s attacking prowess is widely recognized, as he excels in pushing forward and delivering exceptional crosses into the box.
This season, he has showcased his offensive capabilities with 6 assists in 25 appearances for Genk.
However, it is important to note that Muñoz is not only an attacking force, but also a formidable defender. He displays great skill in one-on-one situations and tackling, making him a valuable asset in both offensive and defensive transitions.
His athleticism and work rate further enhance his overall contribution to the team.
