Rules of the draw:
A general guideline stipulated that no group could include more than one team from the same confederation, except for UEFA, which has 12 clubs participating in the tournament. Consequently, four of the eight groups consist of two European clubs each.
Clubs from the same member association could not be grouped either and all clubs from Pot 1 were allocated to the first position of the group into which they were drawn.
For scheduling considerations, both U.S. clubs, Inter Miami and Seattle Sounders, were automatically assigned to the fourth position in Groups A and B, respectively.
