‎Turkish champions Galatasaray are set to complete a historic transfer of Napoli striker Victor Osimhen on Wednesday.

‎The club will reportedly pay a record €75 million to secure the player on a long-term deal.

‎Following extensive negotiations with Napoli officials in Milan, the clubs ultimately reached an agreement on the overall package, smashing the previous Turkish record of approximately €20 million set by Youssef En-Nesyri’s transfer to Fenerbahçe last summer.

‎Despite reported interest from several other European sides as well as Saudi Arabian outfit Al Hilal, Osimhen decided he wanted to return to Galatasaray. The Nigerian international spent the previous season on loan at the club, winning both the Super Lig title and the Turkish Cup.

‎He is expected to arrive in Istanbul around 19:00 CET, with Galatasaray’s social media streaming the flight live to show the importance of the move for the club. A large crowd is anticipated to welcome the Nigerian striker at the airport.

‎He had a remarkable season personally, finishing as the league’s top scorer with 26 goals. He also set the Turkish record for most goals scored in a single campaign by a foreign player, with 36 goals.

‎Osimhen spent four seasons at Napoli, in which he helped the Italian outfit win their first Serie A crown in 33 years during the 2022/23 campaign, scoring 26 goals and registering four assists.

‎However, after falling out with the club the following year, he was left in limbo, with Galatasaray taking advantage to seal a loan deal for the 2024/25 season.

‎Fans fell in love with him during his time at the club, and he now returns to Istanbul to continue his journey, with the chance to leave a significant impact on Turkish football.
