Haaland Rested At Halftime In Man City’s 6-1 Rout Of Bournemouth After Injury Scare
Erling Haaland was replaced at halftime during Manchester City’s 6-1 victory over Bournemouth on Saturday due to an ankle injury.
Pep Guardiola, the City manager, mentioned that he made the substitution as a preventive measure, but it’s still uncertain whether Haaland will be fit to participate in Tuesday’s Champions League match against Young Boys.
“Twist in the ankle. We didn’t want to take risks with him. He didn’t feel comfortable,” Guardiola revealed. “He’ll be back maybe Tuesday, but maybe next Sunday.”
Haaland experienced discomfort and had to stop while making a run in the penalty area during the first half. Manchester City did not specify which ankle of the Norwegian striker was injured.
This season, Haaland has scored a total of 13 goals in various competitions, including two goals in the recent 3-0 victory over Manchester United. However, he struck the post with a header before being replaced during the match against Bournemouth.
Jeremy Doku played a crucial role in City’s victory, contributing one goal and creating four more, propelling the reigning Premier League champions to the top of the league standings.
