Ian Wright Doubts Ten Hag’s Decision To Overlook Kudus And Alvarez In Transfers

Ian Wright, a renowned Arsenal player, has expressed his surprise at Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag’s decision to not sign former Ajax players Mohammed Kudus and Edson Alvarez during the summer transfer window.

West Ham United, a Premier League 14th-placed team, strengthened their squad by acquiring Kudus and Alvarez, with a £73 million investment, securing the services of the winger and holding midfielder.

Manchester United acquired Antony from Ajax in 2022 for £86 million and Casemiro from Real Madrid for £70 million in the summer.
Wright has criticized Ten Hag’s transfer decisions since joining Old Trafford, stating that he was criticized for overlooking Alvarez and Kudus, who are currently excelling at West Ham, and for choosing Antony over Kudus, a player he had previously had.

He questioned Antony’s performance in games, stating that Kudus’s output is significantly higher than Antony’s, making it difficult to understand why one might prefer Kudus over Antony based on their contributions.

He expressed confusion over Ten Hag’s transfer market decisions, particularly Alvarez and Kudus, stating that they raise eyebrows and don’t align with his personal beliefs and values.

Kudus have made a significant impact at West Ham, scoring nine goals in 24 games, while Alvarez has contributed with one goal and two assists. Antony, however, has not made a significant mark at Manchester United this season.
