Leeds United Considering Sacking Farke Despite Premier League Promotion

Leeds United are reportedly considering sacking manager Daniel Farke despite securing a return to the Premier League this week.

‎MailOnline reports that the management at Elland Road lacks confidence in Farke’s ability to keep the team in the Premier League next season.

‎They have serious doubts about his skills in steering the club away from the relegation zone. This concern echoes the challenges faced by many newly promoted sides.

‎The German manager sealed a dramatic return to the top flight as they thrashed Stoke City 6-0 at Elland Road but his record in the top flight is not something to be ignored.

‎In his 49 Premier League matches with the Canaries, Farke managed only six victories, a record that is inadequate for any newly promoted team. Since taking over at Leeds in 2023, he has won 59 of the 102 matches he has overseen.

‎With two games remaining and a points total approaching 100, it would seem harsh to dismiss him after such a significant accomplishment.

‎At his former side, Norwich City, he led them to promotion twice but was sacked in 2019/20 after finishing bottom with 21 points.

‎Last season was the first since 1998 in which all three promoted teams were relegated, prompting the Leeds owners to be determined to avoid similar pitfalls.

‎They are particularly keen to learn from the mistakes of clubs like Leicester City, Southampton, and Ipswich Town, which struggled to perform in the Premier League.
