‎Lionel Messi is close to extending his time in Major League Soccer, with the Argentina star on the cusp of signing a new deal at Inter Miami, according to reports.

‎Messi joined Inter Miami in the 2023 season, and his deal extends through the end of the 2025 campaign.

‎According to an ESPN report, the sides are in the final stages of negotiations, with only minor details left to finalize. Financial terms were not disclosed.

‎This season, he ranks second in MLS with 20 goals in 21 league games. Messi is also tied for sixth with 11 assists. Last season, he scored 20 goals (tied for second in the league) and 16 assists (tied for third).

‎In 46 league appearances for the Herons, Messi has 41 goals and 27 assists. Across all competitions, he has 54 goals in 62 games.
