Nottingham Forest Must Focus On Reality -Says Espirito Santo
Nottingham Forest is facing a challenging period as they struggle with a four-point deduction for breaching financial sustainability rules. Manager Nuno Espirito Santo has emphasized the importance of focusing on the task at hand moving out of the Premier League relegation zone.
In their last game before the international break, Forest were held to a 1-1 draw by Luton Town, a result that was followed by’ the news of the points deduction. The four-point deduction dropped Forest to 18th place in the table, one point behind Luton, with both teams having nine games left in the season.
Espirito Santo acknowledged the reality of the situation, stating, “Our job is clear from day one to prepare our team. The reality is we are in the relegation zone… We have to focus on what we have to do & what we have to do is on the pitch.”
Despite the disappointment of the points deduction, Forest has appealed against the decision. Espirito Santo however, is focused on the upcoming match against Crystal Palace, urging his players to put aside off-field matters & concentrate on their performance on the pitch.
“Our message is clear, forget about the past & focus only on what we have to do… We can’t control the appeal. We are ready to go to get points on the pitch,” Espirito Santo emphasized.
The Portuguese manager expressed the importance of sticking together as a club & the support of the fans during this challenging period. “What we have to do is stick together, everyone at the club, stick together the backup of our fans is going to be huge for us, & starting on Saturday at the City Ground, play football and win games.”
Forest’s next fixtures include a home game against Crystal Palace followed by’ a match against Fulham. Meanwhile, Luton faces tough tests against Tottenham Hotspur& Arsenal.
