Rayan Cherki Agrees On Personal Terms As Manchester City Plan Lyon Bid
Manchester City is expected to submit an official bid for Ligue 1 club Lyon within the next few hours after reaching an agreement on personal terms with 21-year-old Rayan Cherki, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Manchester City are reportedly leading the race to sign the France international attacking midfielder. They are looking to replace Kevin De Bruyne as the team’s primary creative player.
The club previously withdrew from the race to sign Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz due to concerns over the transfer costs.
Manchester City see Cherki as a more cost-effective option compared to Wirtz, who is expected to transfer to Liverpool.
Pep Guardiola has laid the groundwork for the club to pursue Cherki, with personal terms already agreed upon between the player and the club.
According to Romano, the Premier League side is set to submit an official bid to Lyon within the next few hours to secure the deal.
Initial talks between the clubs reportedly took place over the weekend as part of the process.
Cherki is currently with France’s senior squad with Les Bleus set to face Spain this Thursday at Stuttgart for the Nations League semi-finals.
