In preparation for the Spanish Super cup, Barcelona worked out on Monday following their Copa del Rey game.

However, for the Blaugrana, it was a mixed day, with the departure of Inigo Martinez being the big story.

Barcelona attested to Martinez’s right leg hamstring injury. Martinez will be sidelined for four to five weeks, though it is not the same injury from which he was rehabilitating prior to playing 10 minutes against Barbastro.

Sportxparte reports that Ilkay Gundogan, who was also absent from training due to illness, is anticipated to make a comeback on Tuesday. The fact that Pedri participated in some of the group’s training is fantastic news for Barcelona.

Although Xavi Hernandez has made it clear that he won’t rush Pedri back, he has recently said that he will not only visit Saudi Arabia but may also play a few minutes in the championship game, should Barcelona get that far. Alejandro Balde was not in the Barcelona team that defeated Barbastro, but he returned to training on Monday and is anticipated to be ready for the semi-final matchup with Osasuna.

With Barcelona in dire need of rhythm and momentum, Xavi will be looking to the Blaugrana to somehow conjure lightning in a bottle. It served as the springboard for their run for the championship the previous season, and Xavi will be itching for a response this time around as well.
