UEFA has revealed plans to introduce two new awards during the 2024 Ballon d’Or ceremony as part of their partnership with Group Amaury. This French private media group, which owns France Football and L’Equipe, will collaborate with UEFA to co-organize the prestigious Ballon d’Or event starting in 2024.

The new awards will acknowledge the most influential minds in football.

In 2024, UEFA, in conjunction with Groupe Amaury, will present awards for the Men’s and Women’s Coach of the Year, recognizing the invaluable contributions of coaches to on-field success. This addition will bring the total number of awards presented during the ceremony to ten, including the Men’s Ballon d’Or, Women’s Ballon d’Or, Kopa Trophy (best under-21 player), Yashin Trophy (best goalkeeper), Gerd Muller Trophy (last season’s top scorer), Men’s Club of the Season Trophy, Women’s Club of the Season Trophy, and the Socrates Award (for humanitarian work).

UEFA President Aleksandr Ceferin expressed, “For nearly 70 years, the Ballon d’Or has been the most prestigious individual honor in the world of football, recognizing the remarkable skill, dedication, and influence of football legends and their enduring impact on the sport’s history. UEFA and the Ballon d’Or are synonymous with sporting excellence, and our partnership is a natural union of prominence, promising an exceptional synergy.”

UEFA’s decision to celebrate the game’s top managers is reminiscent of the awards introduced by FIFA in their “The Best Awards” series. The current holders of these accolades are Lionel Scaloni from Argentina and Sarina Wiegman from England.
