Madrid Hit By Injuries As Güler And Militão Ruled Out
Real Madrid’s preparations for the decisive final phase of the campaign have been severely disrupted after the club confirmed that Arda Güler and Éder Militão will miss the remainder of the season due to hamstring injuries.
Their absence arrives at a pivotal moment in the La Liga title race and ahead of a season-defining Clásico.
A Costly Training Setback for Arda Güler
Arda Güler’s injury came unexpectedly during the club’s final training session before their league clash with Real Betis.
Subsequent medical tests revealed a hamstring injury in his right leg, ruling him out for approximately four weeks.
It is a frustrating blow for the 19-year-old, who had begun to find rhythm and consistency after his earlier injury troubles this season.
His creativity and ball-carrying ability have increasingly made him a valuable option for Alvaro Arbeloa. And particularly in matches where Real must break down low-block defences.
Militão’s Injury Compounds Defensive Concerns
Éder Militão’s situation unfolded more visibly during Tuesday’s match against Alavés. The Brazilian defender pulled up shortly before halftime after feeling a sharp twinge during a challenge, immediately signalling to the bench that he could not continue.
Although Arbeloa initially sounded hopeful post-match, an MRI later confirmed a left-leg hamstring injury.
This latest setback is especially concerning given the defender’s history of severe injuries. Militão has endured consecutive ACL tears in the past two years and was only recently regaining his best form.
His absence places greater strain on the defensive rotation. This increases the workload on Antonio Rüdiger, David Alaba, and Nacho Fernández during the most intense part of the season.
Pressure Mounts Ahead of El Clásico
The timing of these injuries could hardly be worse for Real Madrid. With six games remaining. Los Blancos sit nine points behind leaders Barcelona, who have 82 points and remain firmly in control of the La Liga title race.
The upcoming Clásico at Camp Nou on May 10 could prove decisive; a Barcelona victory would effectively seal back-to-back league titles.
World Cup Timelines Offer Some Relief
Although the season-ending diagnosis is a blow domestically, Real Madrid can take some comfort in the medical outlook. Both Güler and Militão are expected to fully recover in time for the World Cup, which begins in under 50 days.
Their national teams Turkey and Brazil will monitor their progress closely. Though Real Madrid’s medical staff remains confident about the rehabilitation timeline.
