Arsenal Eyes Premier League Star As Saka Replacement
Arsenal is eyeing Wolverhampton Wanderers forward, Matheus Cunha as they seek a replacement for the injured Bukayo Saka, according to recent reports.
Saka went down with a hamstring injury, believed to be a tear, which manager Mikel Arteta has confirmed will keep him out for “many weeks“.
A formal recovery timeline has not been made public but there are fears Saka could miss up to three months, while there were even fears he may have suffered a season-ending injury.
After Raheem Sterling sustained an injury during training, Arteta admitted that Arsenal might need to explore the transfer market for additional reinforcements.
According to The Telegraph, one such signing could be Cunha, who has played his way onto the radars of a number of elite sides this season.
The 25-year-old, who saw a two-year loan with Wolves made permanent for £44m in 2023, has ten goals and four assists from 18 games this season and even scored directly from a corner in Thursday’s 2-0 win over Manchester United.
His impressive performances have attracted Arsenal’s attention, and Wolves are preparing for offers while attempting to persuade Cunha to extend his contract at Molineux.
Wolves, currently 17th in the Premier League, are set to demand a significant transfer fee for Cunha in January as they fight to avoid relegation.
Such a price tag could make a winter transfer challenging, even for the wealthiest clubs.
