Barcelona: Deco Showers Praises On Pedri, Joao Felix After 2-0 Victory Against Osasuna

The team’s sporting director, Deco, expressed his opinions after Barcelona defeated Osasuna 2-0 in the Spanish Super Cup semi-final, stating that players like Joao Felix and Pedri provided greater balance to the squad.

A minute after the hour, Pedri—who was considered a serious doubt for the match—was introduced to Felix, and together they altered the game’s trajectory.

Felix swiftly added up the points in the closing minutes of the second half and helped Lamine Yamal score the game’s second goal, giving Barcelona the lead and breaking the tie.

Felix was in desperate need of the assist because the Portuguese star hadn’t looked as sharp as he used to.

It didn’t take Pedri long to prove he was the best player on the field. The young midfielder energized the club immediately after making his debut, and his performance was a major contributing factor in the team’s 2-0 victory.

Deco said, as quoted by Mundo Deportivo: “We wanted to win and be in the final and what we want is to win titles.

“We were better in the second half. The input of Joao and Pedri, with their game giving more balance and possession as we like, has led us to beat a team like Osasuna that has competed well and had chances.”

While Felix’s season has started off well, there has been an unforeseen twist in his path to Barcelona. The Portuguese celebrity and Xavi are no longer on speaking terms because things haven’t turned out as planned.

If he continues like this, Barcelona might decide not to sign him long-term in the summer.

Felix has lost his starting spot in the last few games. Deco responded as follows when asked if Felix should be given more chances to start in the starting lineup.

Deco said, “The manager decides. Joao Felix has been important in phases of the season, today once again but also Ferran and others in other games.”

“He came out with attitude and showed it. That is the most important thing,” Deco expressed.

Meanwhile, looking ahead to the final, Deco expressed that he wants to see, “The champion gene against Madrid that played a spectacular game and Atletico too. We get players back and it will be a nice final.”
