Bundesliga: Bayer Leverkusen Defeats FC Koln In Derby Match To Maintain Title Race
Bayer Leverkusen emerged victorious in the derby match against local rival FC Koln on Sunday.

The breakthrough came in the 37th minute when Alex Grimaldo delivered a pinpoint cross to Patrik Schick, whose flick found Jeremie Frimpong at the back post. Frimpong made no mistake, slotting the ball into the net from close range to give Leverkusen the lead.
Koln fought back bodily in the second half, coming agonizingly close to equalizing when Sargis Adamyan’s shot struck the post. However, Leverkusen’s quality shone through as they continued to press forward and create chances.
In the 73rd minute, substitute Amine Adli combined beautifully with Grimaldo, who unleashed a powerful shot that found the back of the net, doubling Leverkusen’s lead.
Despite Koln’s efforts, they were unable to break through Leverkusen’s defence, and the match ended with a 2-0 victory for the visitors.
