Chelsea Sacks Liam Rosenior After Disastrous Run
Chelsea have confirmed the exit of manager Liam Rosenior after just four months at Stamford Bridge.
He had been appointed in January 2026 following the departure of former coach Enzo Maresca and signed a six-and-a-half-year deal. Rosenior opened his tenure strongly, winning six of his first seven matches across all competitions.
His early run also included standout displays in the Champions League group phase, securing progression to the knockout stage.
However, the momentum faded rapidly as performances dipped. The collapse was sealed when Chelsea crashed out of Europe after an 8-2 aggregate defeat to Paris Saint‑Germain.
That slump has been mirrored in the league. Chelsea is losing their last five Premier League matches while conceding 11 goals and scoring none.
The poor run has seen them drop to seventh in a tightly packed table, sitting just three points above 12th place.
Chelsea’s Sentence
”On behalf of everyone at Chelsea FC, we would like to place on record our gratitude to Liam and his staff for all their efforts during their time with the Club,” a statement said.
”Liam has always conducted himself with the highest integrity and professionalism following his appointment midway through the season.
”This has not been a decision the Club has taken lightly, recent results and performances have fallen below the necessary standards. With still so much more to play for this season. Everyone at Chelsea FC wishes Liam every success in the future.”
Turning Point
Rosenior recently hit out at his players following their 3-0 defeat to Brighton.
”I feel numb I’m so angry. I always speak on what I see and that was unacceptable. The goals we conceded were unacceptable and that is something I have to hold my hands up to,” he said after the loss.
”Tonight was not tactical. This was about desire, spirit, and courage and I did not see enough of that.
”Nowhere near good enough and we have to improve that.”
Chelsea’s only remaining chance at silverware is the FA Cup. They are set to meet Leeds United in the semi-final on Sunday, April 26th.
