Borussia Dortmund is brewing a strategy to reel in Manchester United‘s sidelined talent, Jadon Sancho, as per Sport Bild.
With speculations rife about the 23-year-old’s potential departure from Old Trafford, Dortmund has surged forward as the prime contender, manoeuvring less than a month before the transfer window unlocks.
The Bundesliga outfit is contemplating a potential exchange deal, potentially ushering forward Donyell Malen towards Old Trafford. Reports suggest that the Red Devils are eyeing reinforcements for their attack, valuing Malen at approximately €30 million.
However, a crucial condition looms over Sancho’s potential return to Dortmund: a willingness to accept a reduced salary.
At present, the winger commands €14 million annually at the Premier League side, while Dortmund’s top earner, centre-back Niklas Süle, sits on a €12 million contract.
Sancho’s scintillating contribution of 19 goals in 26 Bundesliga appearances during the 2020-21 season paved his path to an €85 million move to Manchester United. Yet, he has struggled to mirror his former brilliance since donning the Red Devils’ jersey.

In other transfer news:

  • Chelsea has set its sights on Bayer Leverkusen’s centre-back, Jonathan Tah, envisioning the 27-year-old as a potential successor to Thiago Silva, whose contract concludes next summer. Tah’s commendable form, with three goals in 12 Bundesliga games, has captured the Blues’ attention.
  • Liverpool is contemplating extending defender Joël Matip’s contract despite the 32-year-old’s recent anterior cruciate ligament injury. Matip’s recent stellar performances have prompted Jurgen Klopp’s side to seek an extension as his current contract approaches its final six months in January.
  • Paris Saint-Germain forward Hugo Ekitike has attracted interest from two Premier League clubs, West Ham United and Crystal Palace, as a prospective January signing. The 21-year-old contributed to seven goals in 25 Ligue 1 appearances last season and has also been linked to Newcastle United.
  • Bayern Munich eyes Barcelona’s Clément Lenglet as a potential January addition to bolster their defense. With Lenglet yet to feature in the Premier League while on loan at Aston Villa this season, Bayern eyes an opportunity to secure the 28-year-old defender.
  • Juventus has set its sights on Valencia midfielder Javi Guerra, considering the 20-year-old as a prospective option in January. Any potential deal would likely require an offer in the ballpark of €25 million, given Guerra’s contributions of four goals from 15 LaLiga appearances this season.
  • Bayern Munich might pivot away from pursuing Fulham’s João Palhinha, opting instead for Real Sociedad midfielder Martín Zubimendi, as per Bild’s Christian Falk. Despite previous close dealings, Zubimendi emerges as a newfound priority in manager Thomas Tuchel’s pursuit of a holding midfielder, following links to Barcelona for the 24-year-old.
