‎Manchester City have completed the £46.3 million signing of midfielder Tijjani Reijnders from AC Milan.

‎The 26-year-old has agreed to a five-year contract with the club.

‎Reijnders, a Netherlands international, recorded the highest number of goals and assists among midfielders in Serie A last season.

‎He was a bright spark in a disappointing season for Milan, who only finished eighth in Serie A, missing out on qualification for Europe.

‎Reijnders, who joined AC Milan from AZ Alkmaar in summer 2023, scored 15 goals in all competitions last season and will enhance Manchester City’s midfield options following Kevin De Bruyne’s departure.

‎He began his professional career at PEC Zwolle in the Netherlands before establishing himself as a regular at AZ Alkmaar.

‎The 26-year-old Netherlands international is known for his goal and assist contributions in Serie A.

‎Since first truly making his mark at AZ in 2020/21, Reijnders has amassed extensive experience at both club and international levels.

‎After making his senior Netherlands debut in 2023, he played all six games at Euro 2024 as his nation reached the semi-finals.

‎Reijnders’ signing brings Manchester City’s summer transfer spending to £108.6 million, after previous acquisitions of Rayan Ait-Nouri from Wolves for £31 million, Rayan Cherki from Lyon for £31 million, and goalkeeper Marcus Bettinelli for a nominal fee.

‎Reijnders is now eligible for selection in this summer’s FIFA Club World Cup in the USA.

‎Fluent in English, he expressed enthusiasm about the potential achievements he hopes to attain with Manchester City.

‎“I am ecstatic to be signing for Manchester City,” Reijnders said.

‎”City is one of the biggest teams in the world, with the best coach, world-class players, and outstanding facilities. Under Pep Guardiola, City have won so many titles, and I want to help keep that going with a lot more success in the coming years.

‎“It is also a dream come true to play in the Premier League. This league has seen many of the best Dutch players perform through the years and it’s an inspiration to follow in their footsteps.

‎“I am really looking forward to getting going, meeting the other players, and showing the Manchester City fans what I can do.”

‎“He arrives here with extensive top-level experience in Europe both at club level as well as on the international stage with the Netherlands.

‎“Tijjani adds extra energy, composure, and creativity to our midfield, and working with Pep and our coaches will only see him go from strength to strength.”
